‘Atithi’ To Streamline Guest House Bookings and Management

BHU’s Atithi Guest House Management System strengthens digital governance through centralized booking, live room availability, automated allocation, occupancy tracking, searchable records, transparency, efficiency, and user-friendly administrative services.
In another step towards strengthening digital systems at BHU and making administrative processes more efficient, transparent and user-friendly, Banaras Hindu University has launched Atithi Guest House Management System, a digital platform designed to streamline the booking and management of guest house accommodation across the University campus.
Developed by a team under the guidance of Prof. T. V. Prabhakar, Advisor, IT, BHU. Atithi provides a single platform for managing accommodation across BHU guest houses. Faculty and non-faculty staff can raise booking requests through the Namaste BHU app and website.
The system enables guest house administrators to view Live room availability, confirm bookings, allot rooms according to category, and track occupancy as guests check in and check out. In case a guest house is fully occupied, the booking request will be forwarded to another guest house, helping ensure that requests are accommodated rather than declined. The system also maintains a permanent, searchable record of stays, providing accurate data on guest house utilization.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi lauded the initiative and appreciated the team for their efforts. He emphasized the importance of feedback and informal communication among authorities to ensure that such initiatives develop and deliver maximum benefit to their intended users.
The software was launched at the Committee Room of the Lakshman Das Guest House. Prof Yogesh Arya conducted the session. Prof. Rakesh Singh, Chief Warden, Lakshman Das Guest House, BHU, said that the initiative was the result of the collaborative efforts of everyone involved and expressed his gratitude to the teams for making it a reality. He said that the system will be further developed as per the needs of the university.
